Protein

In recent years lots have begun taking workout supplements with one of the most popular being the protein shake. Protein has been proven to help with fat loss, athletic performance and building muscle as well as muscle repair after workouts.

Your body needs 20 amino acids (the building blocks of protein) to stay alive. 11 of these can be
produced by your body itself, while the other 9 must be obtained from food. The nine EAAs are
tryptophan, threonine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine+cysteine, phenylalanine+tyrosine, valine, and histidine. These nine are called essential amino acids (EAAs for short).

Protein contains amino acids that are well known for improving muscle recovery and performance like branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) and arginine. BCAAs which include isoleucine, leucine and valine drive protein synthesis which then helps muscle recovery after your workout.

Vitamin D

As with most vitamins if you’re getting enough vitamin D from your diet and sunlight exposure in theory you shouldn’t need supplementation, but during winter it can be difficult to get what you need from sunlight. It might be worth checking your vitamin D levels with your doctor all year round, not just in the winter. Vitamin D can also be found in Arbonne Protein Shake Mix.

Pomegranate

Pomegranates are loaded with awesome beneficial nutrients and contain potassium, Vitamin C, Vitamin K.  Studies have shown that it reduces oxidative stress which is a by-product of working out. It is rich in anti-inflammatory properties and helps with immunity.  It also free radicals which lead to helping to oxygenate the blood, more oxygen = better workout. You can find this surprising fruit in Phytosport After workout as well as Greens Balance.

Calcium

Is important for building strong bones but it also is important for muscle contraction during your workout. When you workout you lose a lot of important nutrients via sweat including Calcium. Help replenish calcium with Arbonne Complete Hydration and After Workout.

Panax Ginseng

Used for centuries in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is also an antioxidant that may reduce inflammation.  Arbonne’s Energy Fizz Stick help promote endurance and enhance energy levels.  Arbonne’s Energy Fizz Sticks contain a botanical blend of ginseng, guarana and green tea, combined with B vitamins, chromium and ubidecarenone which combine together to help reduce inflammation and provide energy for your workout.

Turmeric (Aka Curcuma longa)

Turmeric has been used for centuries as a powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial and antiseptic particularly in Asian and Indian cultures. When we workout we often experience these pain when eccentric muscle activity is involved and the contracting muscles are lengthened, this is called delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). This contraction then triggers an inflammatory response and the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) which then leads to sustained inflammation and oxidative stress. Turmeric’s powerful anti-inflammatory powers
can be found in Phytosport After workout and can help reduce the dreaded DOMS.

Vitamin K

K1 is what you get from green, leafy vegetables, but K2 comes from animal sources, especially livers. Vitamin K can help improve bone strength and decrease calcium build-up in your blood vessels - reducing calcification of your arteries and risk of stroke and heart disease.  Vitamin K also plays an important role in blood clotting and bone metabolism.

Find Vitamin K in Arbonne Greens Balance.

Magnesium

Magnesium is used in over 300 chemical reactions in the body.  You can get magnesium from
seeds, nuts, leafy green veg, dark chocolate and coffee in your diet.  However, if you are deficient it can affect your energy, bone strength, nervous system and blood sugar control. Magnesium supplements have been shown to help with recovery and muscle contraction and have a positive influence on blood pressure.  You can find magnesium in Arbonne Phytosport After Workout.

Water

This is a fun one in winter, you should be consuming 8-10 glasses/2 litres of purified water every day (brrrrr!).

You lose a lot of water while you sleep, let alone when you work out. Rehydrating first thing in the morning before you’ve had anything else to eat or drink will help to keep your body cells in great shape and help to wake up your digestion.

Drinking lots of water will also help to balance the hormonal responses that tell your body that you’re hungry when you’re really not.

I recommend filling up 3 large water bottles of purified water the night before and have it ready for the next day. Try to drink throughout the day. Also, its better to se filtered water as your liver is already one of the hardest working organs in your body and will have to filter it if you don’t - your skin will love you for it too!

Phytosport Complete Hydration is a great way of getting more water in without having to drink plain water. It also contains electrolytes magnesium, calcium as well as an antioxidant blend of vitamins A, C and E to fight free radicals created during exercise.
